Is Trinity Biblical?
The Doctrine of the trinity is created by theologians to try to accurately describe what the bible teaches about The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit to the best of their abilities. The trinity is defined as, within the one being of God there exists 3 distinct co-equal and co-eternal persons that is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I will now provide you with verses that prove that Jesus is God, the Holy Spirit is God, and the Father is God.
Numerous sources assert that Jesus is God. In the book of John 1:1-14, John, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote that Jesus, the Word, is God incarnate. Additionally, in Titus 2:13, Paul proclaimed Jesus as God. I will mention a few more verses that identify Jesus as the true God.
Here John calls Jesus the "true God and eternal life" this is really one of the most direct verses that claim Jesus is God.
This is the Father speaking to the Son and calling Jesus God!
This verse here explicitly mentions all the members of the Trinity. Giving another reason for us christians to invent the doctrine of the trinity to comprehend God.
The book of Acts has made it explicitly clear that God purchased the church with His own blood.
In the book of Philippians 2:10-11 - "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." This verse here mentions that everyone must confess Jesus is Lord who is the glory of God the Father.
There are still countless more verse that even put Holy Spirit in the same place with The Fathe and The Son.
This verse above is an unequivocal proof for the doctrine of the trinity.
In the verse above Peter called the Holy Spirit, God!
These 2 verse above show the relationship of the triune God.
When it says the Lord is One, it uses the hebrew word 'echad' which means one in unity. Unity in the midst of complexity. In Genesis 2:24 it says, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one (echad) flesh." The 2 shall become one flesh. In the same context the word 'echad' is used. It's still 2 people but shared together in some kind of oneness. The man and woman become a unity of people as if they are one body likewise, this same principle can be applied to God that there is a compund unity in God! In Genesis 1:1 it says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The word God in hebrew means 'Elohim' which is a plural term. When we go to John 1:1-2, 14, it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. ... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." It speaks all across the bible that there is a community within the oneness of God The Father, God the Son who is the Word of God (John 1:1), and God the Holy Spirit. It's important to note that Trinitarians believe in ONE GOD! Monotheism is at the foundation of the doctrine of the trinity.
In this passage the Lord is speaking.
Similarily, according to Hebrews 10:5-7 "But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”" According to this passage the Holy Spirit is viewed as Lord. In II Corinthians 13:14, Paul is saying a benediction (blessing) by invoking the name of the triune God. "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen." This verse is a benediction to the church. This verse not only mentions all the members of the trinity but also proves that they are distinct from one another.
